Oops I completely forgot to mention who was on the trip. Genny, Lauren, Cindy, Melissa, Luther, Jessica, Jon, and Sam went from our Youth group. Okay so continuing with the last post...the boys came to the center area that night and we played Poker. We used Connect Four chips to bet, but then realized that we probably shouldn't be caught gambling so we put our chips in the board to pretend we were playing Connect Four. The reds were 10 and they yellows 50. We all bet 10 the first round and Andy Beck (worship leader) walks over and gave us a weird look because it seemed like we didn’t know how to play connect 4 :D
We had to wear our navy world changers shirt the next morning (Sunday) because we were going to meet our crew members and church family (which brought us lunch at the worksite that week). My crew consisted of three adults, PK (who was our crew chief), Rachel (our encourager), and Mike. We had six kids, Sarah, Phillip, Taylor, Christian, Melissa, and me. I’ve gotta say, after a week, I’ve realized that we have the best crew. Most of the other crews had some sort of dissension but our crew never did (: I have come to love each member but each for different reasons. After meeting our crew, we went to our church, Mountain View Baptist, which had approximately 30 attendees that day. It was father’s day and it’s sad I didn’t get to spend it with my dad ): Anyways, we had lunch after the message and the food was delicious. I miss Southern food D: especially okras…Then we drove back to meet our homeowner, Mrs. Clark, and surveyed the house. We also had a chance to meet the neighbors to tell them about our project. We came back in time for dinner and worship.
The rest of the week was similar, except for Tuesday and Wednesday. We worked on reroofing the house and painting one of the interior rooms. We woke up at 6 and left by 7 on most days. We were really lucky because our roof was entirely shaded by several trees, which made the heat more bearable. We had to wear short sleeved shirts and long pants so you can imagine how hot it got on the roof. We were also lucky to get a small roof, which wasn’t as steep as some of the others. At times I felt tired and felt like complaining but then realized that I wasn’t here for myself but for God, and it no longer mattered that I had many mosquito bites and was sunburned. On Monday, a couple of neighborhood kids came to have lunch with us. At first, they were shy but they got more close to us as the week went on and it was interesting to hear about their lives. One kid failed 4th grade and dreaded seeing his friends move on to 5th in the fall, leaving him behind. Another girl was going into 5th but had trouble reading. She was an only child and her brother had died soon after birth. These kids stayed after lunch to do devotions with us and one day this boy, in 5th grade, stayed after to tell us that he was glad to be here and glad that Jesus saved him. It turns out he was hit by a car when he was 5 but recovered fully. It was really encouraging for me to see the love of Christ in these kids. We left the worksite at 5 most nights and got back in time for a shower and dinner.
After dinner, we usually had an hour before worship. Lauren taught us a card game called Nerts and it basically consumed our free time for the rest of the week (: It was really addicting. We found out that the Alabama kids were also addicted and had tournaments :D Two bama kids hung out with us during free time, Matt and Drew, and we played intense rounds of Nerts. Then we went to the worship and message at 7:30 and afterwards to youth group devotions. That ended around 9:30 and we had free time until 10:30 (more nerts :D)
However, on Tuesday, we ate a quick dinner and went to the nearby Indian Reservation for a Powwow. Many crews were working on the reservation so they wanted to thank World Changers. It was interesting to see a different culture but I didn’t take pictures of this because I forgot to bring my camera ):
Wednesday, we only had half a day of work and had the rest of the day off. We left after lunch and then our youth group went to the nearby mall. The boys went to see Transformers and we stopped at Walmart to grab snacks. Then we brought Luther to see Hot Topic because he has never been here before. Genny bought a batman shirt (: Then we went to Jessica’s friend’s friend’s house :D because a bunch of her friends drove up here to see her. We learned to play Contact which we played the ride back. Then we drove to Charlotte to eat Ethiopian food. It was pretty good! They give you this flat bread that has the texture of pancakes but was slightly sour. They also gave you the ingredients (whatever you ordered) and you wrap it with the bread. You ate with your hands (we made sure to wash our hands well after a day of work). We wanted to go to Baskin Robbins after dinner but it closed at 9 ):
On Saturday we woke up at 6, ate breakfast, packed, and left for home. We popped water balloons as a farewell. The ride home went pretty quickly because we played “would you rather” and Contact.

It was a lot of fun [:

Tribute
This is a tribute to my amazing parents, who often say things that make my day.

Texts

From Dad after I forgot to text/call for a day: "Lost and find connie yuan. Female. 17. Last time found at wei yuan house. Since then, we lost contact"

From Mom: "How are you going today. We miss you. Dad said your group was wired. Connie maybe was kidnapped. You know your dad himself is wired. Mom. [I think she meant "weird" [: This was after my dad dropped me off at camp and saw the mob and was freaked out.]

From Mom after I forgot to text again (oops): "Bad pang pang [fatty--my parents' nickname for me]. You lost again."
